Sarawak State Stadium repair works

Hi there!!! Today i would like to write a little bit about my waterproofing/building solution experience. In my line of work with Perritech, I involved a lot of my time with waterproofing project around Sarawak. So today i would like to share my experience for every materials i have use and the projects i involved with.

I used many chemicals from SIKA and PLC. SIKA is a renown company specialize with building solution chemicals and materials. You can visit their site at www.sika.com. It is founded in Switzerland by Kaspar Winkler. PLC Laboratory on the other hand, is a Malaysian based company that was establish by a group of coating professional to carry out R&D and manufacturing of advance coating material here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is established on 1995 and one of the leading chemical manufacturer in Malaysia.

Project : Sarawak State Stadium repair works
System used :

  • Joint repair (Combiflex system)
    • Sikadur 31CF Normal
    • Sikdur Combiflex
    • Monotop system
    • Sikaflex sealant

This combiflex system consists of several layers of materials on top of each other. Surface preparation is needed for this system, a least a inch of depth needed to be hack off either vertically or horizontally depending on the leaked joint. After measuring and hacking, the first thing is to apply Sikadur 31 CF Normal on the hacked surface followed by the combiflex rolls cut into suitable size.

After laying the rolls, apply the epoxy sikadur 31 again with allowance of 2-3mm space in the middle. Lastly, after the epoxy dried up, monotop system is applied on top of the epoxy and wait until it dry then sealant is apply on the middle space.

This system is suitable for joints that are susceptible to movement over time as the combiflex rubbery rolls will move along with the structural movement.
Finish works for inspection

  • Joint repair (Polyurea system)
    • PLC 118ST (Epoxy)
    • PLC 690 SPUA
    • PLC 310 PU
I never see how specialist applied polyurea before nor i ever heard of it in my 8 years of studies. It is an act of mixing resin (hardener) with polymer (colored) in a high temperature mixing by a special sparying maching ( we just called is polyurea machine). The air for spraying is supplied by a diesel compressor.

This is the spraying machine

and the spray gun would look like this
and the compressor should look like this

So our job is to waterproof the leaked "T" pre-cast slab on every level of the stadium. We can achieve around 100 square meter per day if everything is okay. Polyurea can dry up pretty fast, in the region of 5 to 15 seconds so careful planning needed to be done in terms of polyurea joint lapping and the surface profile.

After
Before

Polyurea is a tough and durable system making it suitable for any possible areas. IT can be stretch up to 400% of its original length. You can even apply it inside a concrete water tank to make the tank waterproof and it is 100% safe for drinking water.

  • Structural cracks repair
    • Sikadur 31CF Normal
    • Sikadur 52MY

Structural cracks is quite simple to repair and there is a lot of methods. Epoxy resin injection is one way to do it. It is a simple work where the epoxy resin is injected in the prepare cracks by a pump (hand or mechanical). We need to place a pecker (some sort of receiving plastic hard tube for the injection), covered the cracks and the pecker with an epoxy mortar (Sikadur 31CF Normal), wait for it to harden atleast a day and then we can inject it directly.

Meizu M1 Note Review

A few of us knew that there is a smartphone from China named Meizu here in Kuching. When we think about a product from China, especially mobile phones, the worst things that we can think of is clones phone, Oppo, Huawei and Lenovo, just to name a few (which are the famous one)

Well, Meizu recently revealed some exciting devices for the consumer, for example the Meizu MX 2, MX 3 and the latest one is the MX4 and MX4 pro. This year, they come out with a budget friendly smartphone, the Meizu M1 Note. Budget by nature but rich in terms of specification and this phone can punch above its waist line.

I recently bought one for my dad, he wanted a Note 4 edge but he won't probably use all the note's function and further more, note 4 edge is freakingly expensive.
The Meizu M1 Note is a good looking phone. So good looking that it look similarly like the Apple IPhone 5C from every angle you look at. Polycabornate material wraps the entire back of the device while the front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It cost only me around RM700 plus. You can be assured that the specs will make other devices at its price group weeping tears.

VITAL SPECS

  1. 5.5" 1980X1080pixel IGZO LCD display (403PPI).
  2. Flyme OS on top of Android 4.4.4 with lollipop future upgrade.
  3. MediaTEK MT6752, Octa-core 1.7GHz Cortex-A53, Mali-T760MP2.
  4. 2GB of RAM.
  5. 13MP Samsung camera sensor with two tone LED flash. Can record 1080p video @30fps.
  6. 5MP front facing camera with 1080p@30fps video recording.
  7. 16/32 GB internal storage.
  8. 3140 mAh battery.
Detail specification can be viewed the link : http://www.gsmarena.com/meizu_m1_note-review-1232.php

HARDWARE

As i mention early, the phone are made of polycarbonate plastic at the back and a full tempered glass in the front. Mind you it is the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Feast your eyes with the gorgeous 1980x1080 FullHD LCD screen. The screen is alright, with good visibility from any angle and good color reproduction.

At the front of the device, we have a single capacitive touch button which acts as the home button and lock to touch button. Small bezel on the sides, a ear speaker grill on top as well as some sensors and a 5MP front facing camera. It also have the standard 3.5mm earphone jack, secondary microphone and the power button. The placement of the power button is a minus because you have to stretch your fingers across the 5.5 inch screen to the top which is a struggle itself.

The the right side we have just the volume rocker while on the left, a hidden dual sim slot iphone style.

At the back of the device is the 13 MP camera censor, a dual tone flash and Meizu branding. The overall construction of the phone is sturdy and nothing is falling apart (or going to) while reviewing. The choice of plastic is great and i feels like a Iphone 5C on steroid.

The brain that keeps the device ticking is a MediaTek MT6752 chipset, with a Quad-core 1.7GHz Cortex-A53 with Mali-T60MP2 GPU. It is running on 2GB of Ram. The performance of the phone is fluid enough with some (but not always) lag but overall it is a pleasure using the phone. I tested the performance of the phone using Antutu benchmark and the score is really good (nearly 40k). Above some of last year flagship devices such as the Xiaomi Mi3, Nexus 5 and even the LG G3 which is much more expensive than the M1 Note.

As stated before, the M1 Note is equipped with a 13 MP autofocus Samsung camera with dual tone LED. I owned the Samsung Note 3 and i can say that the camera is almost identical to the M1 Note while its 5MP front facing camera is great for video calls. I will try to update with the picture and the video sample.

The loud speaker is loud enough but as usual, lacks bass element and distorted when in high volume. Normally you can hear your phone ringing in a loud environment just as good. The call quality is decent as the i could hear the other parties loud and clear and vice versa. The signal strength also shown a consistency pattern. even in rural areas.

The Meizu M1 Note has a choice of 16 or 32GB of internal storage but sadly there is no option for removable storage so you are stuck with it so plan before buying. For me personally, 16GB is not really an option to consider at least go with the 32GB because nowadays, apps and games are coming with a size of more that 100mb or beyond. Furthermore with the 13MP camera you tend to snap around with it, and the size of the images will be somewhere 2-4 mb depending on the quality. So 16GB is definitely note enough for me, but it is just me.

Battery life for a  3140 mAh battery is okay. You can go to a day and a half or maybe less than that if you are a heavy user. But normally i will last u till the end of the day

SOFTWARE

Out of the box, the Meizu M1 Note is pre-loaded with Android 4.4.4. Kitkat with news that Lollipop is coming. So expect fluid interface with a lot of google goodies. On top of that, the Meizu M1 Note is skin heavily with Flyme 4.0 OS. Something similar with Samsung's Touchwiz and Oppo's swipe gesture skin pack. Due to the fact that the power/lock button is located at the top of the phone, you can unlock the phone by tapping the screen and lock the phone by tapping the capacitive button. Which comes in handy for everyday use.

Its camera interface is simple enough. Again, i can't emphasize enough that the Flyme OS is alot like IOS so its camera interface is mimicking its fruity counterpart.

CONCLUSION

There are not many phones that can match M1 Note specification and price range of under RM800 but if you want to consider other alternative, Xiaomi Mi4i just launched here in Kuching with a price tag of under RM800 with almost similar specification. Other than that you have your typical Samsungs and Sonys but i bet they specs are only mediocre to the M1.

So sad

Browsing the net today and just realized  that Glen Johnson has transferred to Stoke City. But by the looks of it, he is not a very happy man. Just look at him~~~~

EPP 11 Batang Lupar

On 10/06/15 my self accompany by Mr. Affandy, Manager of EPP11 Batang Lupar went to the EPP11 site to make myself familiarize with the works and condition of the site. NKEA stands for National Key Economic Areas, EPP 11 stands for Entry Point Project and the number 11 means it is the 11 point in the whole project and a longer meaning of EPP11 is Scalling up and strengthening paddy farming in other irrigated areas.

There area 12 NKEA's setup by Malaysia Government for the nation growth as shown on the figure below;

So our responsibility here in Bernas is at NKEA 11 (agriculture) and inside NKEA 11 there are 16 EPP and EPP 11 is our responsibility.

Well, it is just a basic introduction as i am not really familiarize with the whole concept yet. Any who, i went for a trip there on the 10/06/15 till 12/06/15.
10 June 2015
Basically we just when there on the afternoon using Bernas's own vehicle and arrive the late on the evening, around 3 something if i am correct. I went straight to Bernas Subsidi office for some introduction where i meet with Mr. Douglas, the executive in charge  and some of the staff (which i can't recall their names huhuuh sorry). After a short discussion with them all, i went to the hotel to check in.
Spend my night in Hotel Seri Simanggang which is the newest 3/4 star hotel in Sri Aman and the room are quite comfortable and easy to find food around the hotel. This is my 1st time staying the the hotel so 1st impression is quite okay.
11/07/2015
We started the day visiting Stumbin's Pusat Peladang Kawasan (PPK) to be introduced to the contractor company. They are the one who responsible in taking care of the fields, in terms of planting and harvesting, maintenance and so on. Harvesting is twice a year thanks to a new breed of paddy seeds that minimize its maturity time and increase its volume. The paddy seeds used for the project is MR219 and so far, the result is good. Managed to achieve near to KPI set.
We were accompany by one of the workers, Mr. Freddy as he bring us to the site for inspection.
One of the earth drain constructed by the irrigation team.
Access roads from the main road
Access road to the paddy field with large pipes on the bund
After sweating it out in the open field, we head back to PPK office and i have a look around the office.

This is Kubota M9540 used primary for land cultivation. It is for the preparation of soil for sowing seed of planting to loosen or turn the soil. It is traditional by working animals such as buffalo and horses and the plough is made from wood, iron or steel attached with blade of stick to cut the earth. Using traditional cultivator, it will make the soil uneven which leads to higher oxygen in the soil which can unfortunately promotes the growth of weeds which increase the cost of maintenance.

This being said, using the rotary tilling will level the soil and with the introduction of water, it will give us good yield and reduce the amount of fertilizer at the same time. Let me add on, leveled soil will increase the efficiency of the rice transplanter.

The main purpose of the intent of modernize the current paddy field is to decrease the amount of workers and also energy when it comes to planting season. So, come along this guy. Kubota NSPU-68C rice transplanter and it is from Japan. It is a 6 row rice transplanter. Back in the days, workers use to go to the field and plant the paddy manually which increase the labor cost and time. Plus the arrangement of paddy might not be the best and very evenly distributed across the field but with this badboy, arrangement are symmetrical, even spaces and in order across the field.

This is my friends, the HarvestkKING, a very efficient harvester. No more you need to personally go the field and harvest it traditionally, this king can harvest up to 1250L(750kg) of paddy with easy and speedy unloading in under 2 minutes and full operations can resume quickly in minimal downtime.

12/06/2015

We went to the site again to take some rice sample from the area to bring back to Kuching. Nothing much going on at the day. We went back to Kuching in the afternoon. A great trip for me to atleast familiarize my self to the works that i am about to embark on!

ROCK ON!!

An apple a day keeps me happy

Hi all!!! I managed to get hold of a device that i long desired. I got my self an Iphone 4s.

Yea i know, its an old phone but i'm in love with the glass and steel design. I didn't really like the 5's aluminium back plate (coz it scratches like very easily) neither the price of the new 6 coz it's so freaking expensive!!

 The package arrived

I bought the 32gb with ios 8.3 installed. Although it is a old stock but the unit looks great, feels great and functioning well enough. n yes, i choose white.

 The box~

I choose white coz i have so many black colored phones and even my current samsung galaxy note 3 is black. so its kinda refreshing to see a different color for a change.

Added security

I bought the front and back tempered glass and deff design steel bumper for protection. The combo looks good and feels good too. Immediately after turning on the device, i decided to update the ios from 8.3 to the lastest 8.4. YEAHH!!!

Bringing sexy back

So there you go, my 3rd apple product since iphone 3g and ipad air. Cheers!!!

One hot sunday evening~~~

It is the month of Ramadhan and the best thing about this month is the Ramadhan bazaar. So one hot evening, i went to stutong bazaar to get some sweet loving food. It is located in front of C121 foodcourt and public bank.

To avoid stress searching for parking, i highly recommend you park in front or at the back of stutong market. Parking are free and there's a lot. One thing that doesn't suit me well is that the prices of foods and drinks increased :( :( :(

The area of the bazaar is in red

I got myself some satays and also 2 kind of drinks. YUM!!!! but its a hot day and i spend only half an hour there so there u go! happy dinner!!!

One of the stalls selling drinks

Its a bird, its a plane. NO!!

Keropok lekor here i come

Apparently bubur lambuk is yesterday news

Sugarcane drinks anyone?

A lot of people makes me sweat more~

IM BACK!!!!

YEESSS!!!!! I recover back my blog. First and foremost, let me start by updating all these years i am away.

I'm finally graduated from Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) with an degree in Civil Engineering about 2 years ago and by luck manage to have a job just in 1 months of tanam anggur/ngabis ke beras ba rumah (unemployed). I have been accepted for the position of Site Engineer in Perritech Sdn Bhd. Perritech is a subsidiary of PANSAR SDN BHD. Before this, I did received and offer from Jurutera Perunding Akal in Miri but i turn them down.

In Perritech, there are 2 major department, building solution department and roofing department. Other department as usual admin, QS and contract, and design. From day 1, i am involved in the building solution department. The meaning of that is i am responsible in the works of waterproofing coatings, flooring works, structural and aesthetic building works and so on.

I spend around 5 months at RH plaza Sibu project for waterproofing works, 7 Months at Sarawak state stadium, 3 months repairing Park City Mall Bintulu, and another 3 months at Elkem. With small project at Belawai, Sarikei and Tanjung Manis.

After more than 2 fruitful years  in Perritech, I have decided that this is the time for me move on, to embark on a new challenge. And now, I'm involved in the agriculture sector and coming from construction side, it is a big step and i don't know whether it was the right move or not. Anyawy, this is my first month in service and there is nothing much going on.

I am an employer of Beras Corporation Sdn. Bhd. whihc is a company of PadiBeras Nasional Berhad (BERNAS). We involved with rice procurement, export and import of rice, distributing, marketing and so on. Anything regarding sweet delicious rice that me and you eat everyday is our responsibility.

I am stationed in  Sri Aman Sarawak to monitor the NKEA EPP 11. It is our Government vision to make Batang Lupar (Stumbin, Tanjung Bijat ect) as the rice bowl of Sarawak, similar to Kedah in peninsular Malaysia.

So yeah, above is the map of the area. This will be my future site. At the moment, we are still waiting for the new office to be ready and when it does, off i go. At the moment, I am located here at our main office, Kuching.
